4Site Group

LGS Inc has been subcontracting for 4Site Group for several years. Our role began with creating land-use maps (zoning and generalized future land-use) for several towns in the province and has since progressed into more varied and complex work. Preliminary site plan maps for new constructions and digital elevation modelling have been well received and continue to show that LGS Inc has the ability to evolve and engage in new and challenging projects with confidence and clarity.

LGS Inc developed a GIS System to inventory all ATV trails throughout Nova Scotia. In addition to the GIS System, LGS Inc has produced a folded map for several ATV club trail networks throughout the province. ATVANS was able to offer local businesses advertising that paid for the map design and product.

Creative Annapolis

AGRG approached LGS Inc to create web map applications to demonstrate the functionality of web map applications and how they can help communities showcase and share their points of interest. One application focused on local artisan information in the Annapolis Valley, NS. Data was gathered, compiled and displayed on the web using ArcGIS Server 9.3 thereby allowing the public to access and query information about local artisans.

The second web map application involved the creation of a database to store scientific data/measurements collected over several years. This data was spatially enabled through linking it with its corresponding geometry. Specialized tools were then coded into the application to allow custom search functions and allow easy and fast access to specific information.

Municipal Government GIS Migration

LGS Inc migrated a local municipal governments GIS from ArcView GIS 3.2 to ArcGIS Desktop 9.3. This process involved batch file manipulation such as projecting and importing data into the new ESRI standard for data storage - the File Geodatabase. A complete GIS migration has brought this municipality into the 21st century and will allow them to access, share, display and geoprocess GIS data in a streamlined environment.

With 'Phase 1' now complete 'Phase 2' will ensure that non-GIS users at their office can access the geospatial data and perform basic processing tasks and queries through an internet based mapping application.

Civic addressing is more than community names, street signs and numbers. It is a comprehensive GIS and emergency dispatching system that allows emergency response personnel the ability to get to an emergency situation faster than using the old system.

LGS Inc has developed a relationship with Service Nova Scotia to work with municipal civic coordinators in the Province to Quality Control civic addressing GIS information to ensure the civic address information for each municipality is current and correctly represented in the Nova Scotia Civic Address File (NSCAF) GIS system.

LGS Inc has been the lead contractor since 2004 in developing a civic address GIS quality control system that's unlike anything in the world. LGS Inc is committed to providing accurate and timely quality control measures that help to make the NSCAF GIS system the best it can be!

Snowmobilers Association of Nova Scotia

LGS Inc was chosen to spatially capture the groomed snowmobile trail network in Nova Scotia. Field data acquisition is now complete - over 4000 kilometers were captured using a combination of ATVs and snowmobiles.

Local club guides were instrumental in reaching this goal. Their commitment of time and resources was greatly appreciated.

The focus now turns to map production, data storage and future integrity, continued liaising and a web map application accessed through the GEOMAPIX gateway.

Valley Waste

LGS Inc was contracted to develop a GIS analysis of the number of commercial, industrial, and residential units there were in the service region. Using GIS, property assessment and civic address information LGS was able to determine the number and more accurately calculate the overall waste management costs.

Western Nova Scotia District Health Authorities

Med.04

LGS Inc created a series of maps for three health districts in Nova Scotia; Annapolis Valley District Health Authority, Southwest Nova District Health Authority and South Shore District Health Authority.  These health districts had accumulated several years worth of client addresses and wished to view this information graphically.  1000+ addresses were accurately geocoded in order to show the clients' location as well as numerous facilities spread throughout these districts.

The maps allowed the health professionals to discern patterns across a large geography and will help them make more informed decisions.
