Quality Control of Nova Scotia Civic Address GIS

Civic addressing is more than community names, street signs and numbers on houses. It is a comprehensive GIS and emergency dispatching systems that allow emergency response personnel the ability to get to an emergency situation faster then using the old system.

Landmark Geographic Solutions has been hired by Service Nova Scotia to work with municipal civic coordinators in the Province of Nova Scotia to Quality Control civic addressing GIS information to ensure the civic address information for each county is current and correctly represented in the Nova Scotia Civic Address GIS system.

LGS has been part of a team of private sector contractors since 2002 in developing a Civic Address GIS system that's unlike anything in the world. LGS prides itself in knowing that we are doing the best job that we can to provide accurate and timely Quality Control measures that help to make the NSCAF GIS system the best it can be!

ATV Association of Nova Scotia Trail Inventory

Landmark Geographic Solutions developed a GIS System to Inventory all ATV trails throughout Nova Scotia. Addition to the GIS System, LGS has produced a folded map for several ATV club trail networks throughout the province. ATVANS was able to offer local businesses advertising that paid for the map design and product.

BerwickGIS

Landmark Geographic Solutions was sub-contracted through 4Site Group Inc of Halifax NS to develop a GIS application for the Town of Berwick NS. The application runs on the office network and contains a GIS viewer that staff can review property,land use, zoning, assessment, and public works GIS Layers. The GIS data is remotely updated from LGS's office. A great advantage to this system is it give the council members the ability to access important information within a council meeting.

911 Addressed Roads

Landmark Geographic Solutions has developed Nova Scotia 911 Addressed Roads large format county maps. The maps are part of the Nova Scotia Civic Address Project. The maps contain street names, civic address ranges, Community Boundaries and topographic information. In conjuntion with the Nova Scotia Civic Address Project LGS create this map after completing the QC exercise.

DFO Canada Shellfish Closures

This project converted hard copy Shellfish Closure Areas Data into a Geographic Information Systems format. The hard copy information was geo-coded into MapInfo Professional 6.5 by Landmark Geographic Solutions. The project has so far developed a Geographic Information Systems layer which shows the boundaries for the Shellfish Closure Area around the shores of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

St. Mary's Coastal Resource GIS

LGS partnered with the Bay Of Fundy Marine Resource Centre to create a community resource management system using GIS as our main instrument for data development and delivery. The development of this system would be crucial in delivering quality information to our coastal community members with respects to increased develop in the economic, social, environmental sectors of our region. We originally developed this idea for improving the delivery of critical community resource information when an oil spill occurs. We quickly realized that the community resource mapping will open doors in the development of other community-based projects in our coastal communities.

Cape Breton Industrial Maps

Landmark Geographic Solutions was hired by Enterprise Cape Breton Corp. to develop large format maps for the Strait of Canso and for the city of Sydney, in Cape Breton. The group wanted to combine a digital base map with identifying industrial, commercial industries in there areas. The maps combine the base mapping and property information from the NSGC for that area. There are certain key industries that are displayed in the maps that will help bring new industries to the area.
